The MicroLoan Foundation - Malawi Challenge 2011 - Open challenge · 23 September 2011 ·

MicroLoan Foundation is a social microfinance institution providing business loans & training to women facing poverty in Malawi, Zambia and Zimbabwe. We have provided loan capital and training to over 512,000 women to help them build small businesses. This also supports 2.6 million dependents.

Story

Thank you for helping us to make a real difference to the lives of some of Africa’s poorest women and their families as part of the “Malawi Challenge 2011 – women empowering women”, a fund-raising challenge for women for the Microloan Foundation (MLF)? (www.microloanfoundation.org.uk).

The Microloan Foundation is an established microfinance NGO. It makes small loans to groups of women in rural areas of Africa with a focus on those who are most in need. The small loans together with business training and mentoring help clients to develop small businesses and increase their financial independence. Since 2002 the MicroLoan Foundation has helped over 16,000 women work their way out of poverty and create a better life for themselves and their families.

The challenge, which will run from 30th September to 8th October, is an 8-day event which includes 3 days trekking in the Mulanje massif, camping in mountain huts, a day in the rural villages near Lake Malawi meeting staff and clients of the MLF and seeing first hand the impact of fundraising.
