Story
A couple of years ago I decided to challenge myself to run two half marathons in a month to raise money for my previous school. This time I want to go one step bigger- running the Sheffield Half Marathon and then Manchester Marathon for charity.
I care very deeply about both children and supporting mental health. Having had close family members suffer from mental health difficulties I can see how important supporting them is. Furthermore, I have first hand seen the impact of adverse life events (recently often linked to coronavirus) on the mental health of children in my classes. I believe putting this first and helping these children as early as we can can make a difference.
Having researched lots of mental health and children’s charities, Place2Be is the best fit to supporting these causes close to my heart. They run counselling for children, parent support schemes and training for teachers to support and improve understanding of mental health.
I have chosen a fundraising target of £1100 as this can pay to give a child in need 1:1 counselling for a whole year. But even just part of this goal can pay for a lunchtime support session for a group of children (£7), fund a 50 minute session for a child (£50) or even running parenting sessions to support parents of children in need (£500). Please help me get towards this goal and I promise I will put the training in to get around the track ❤️
