Michelle's Herriot Hike 2024 fundraising page

Herriot Hike 2024 · 5 October 2024 ·
I'm walking The Herriot Hike on 5 October 2024 in memory of my wonderful mum Judith Young. This 9 mile sponsored walk along Sutton Bank takes in what James Herriot himself called ‘the finest view in England’. Mum will be with me spiritually every step of the way, admiring the beautiful view, reminding me to take care, and urging me to slow down!!
Mum was taken from us recently by an aggressive cancer which she faced with bravery and dignity. She spent her final weeks confined to bed. Increasingly, support was given in order to help keep her at home - which is what she had wanted as far as possible. This included District Nurses, the Palliative Care Team, her GP, Home Carers, and Herriot Hospice Homecare Team, for which we will always be grateful.
The Herriot Homecare Team provided outstanding personalised, compassionate care at home and helped ensure her dignity was preserved right until the end of her life. The majority of the team's work is funded by charitable donations. If you choose to give a gift to Herriot Hospice Homecare, you can be sure that your support will make a real and invaluable impact to local people affected by terminal illness and bereavement, right here in our community.
