Addiction Family Support was established by Elizabeth Burton-Phillips who lost one of her twin sons, Nick, to heroin. Open to anyone who is affected or bereaved by a loved one's harmful use of alcohol, drugs or gambling. Our helpline 0300 888 3853 gives more information about our services.

Story

Hi, this year I lost my mum to drugs, she was an addict for many years and it finally caught up to her,  she passed away August 5th due to complications from her drug use, My mum was a  caring, loving and funny woman, who despite her addiction and troubles tried her hardest to be a good mum, watching her in her final hours was the hardest thing that I have gone through and no one should have to go through that. Drugfam are a charity set with the  primary purpose is to provide a lifeline to families, friends and partners affected by someone else’s addiction to drugs and/or alcohol and those who have been bereaved by substance misuse. They have been a great help to my family through this difficult time and I would love to give something back to them, also this is a chance for me to make good on a promise I made to my mum the night she passed away that I would make her proud. In honour of her memory and to help raise money for drugfam I am going to be running the 21km trail/fell HURT race,  for many people the thought of running a half marathon may not be a huge undertaking but for me this is a huge challenge and one I’m excited for. Thank you for taking the time to read this.
