A Bear Named Buttony is a Scottish Charity providing support throughout the UK to children and young people who have a stoma. We donate Buttony, a cuddly friend, who has a stoma to children through a network of paediatric stoma nurses and direct through our FaceBook page. For Young Adults with a stoma we donate a wash bag full of non medical items to help them adapt to life with a stoma. Thanks so much for considering supporting our work. Together we can raise awareness and banish the 'poo' taboo!

Story

My brave dad is taking on the challenge of walking the 52 miles of the Calderdale Way, over 4 days from the 2nd - 5th October.

For those of you who dont know, dad was shockingly diagnosed with bowel cancer in February this year. He had life saving surgery to remove a tumor, his colon and part of his bowel removed and now has a stoma bag in situ. He's battled through 9 rounds of chemotherapy (so far) and has had good days and bad but now, in his own words 'Now im feeling a bit stronger. I fancy a bit of a challenge!'

At first dad was unsure which charity to walk for. Then when setting up a fundraiser, we came across a bear named buttony, who support children and their families in the life changing position of having a stoma bag. Knowing the struggle dad has had coming to terms with his stoma bag, and being a father of two and grandad of three, the decision was made.

Friends and fellow challengers are welcome to join the walk at any time and any donations are greatly received.
