Southern Area Hospice Services

We provide specialist palliative care to patients suffering from terminal illness

Charity Registration No. n/a

Story

As many friends and family will already be aware, on the eighth of August, Dad passed away in Spain while fundraising for a charity organisation who seek to help the terminally ill in their final days. The organisation (Southern Area Hospice; https://www.southernareahospiceservices.org/) specialises in providing palliative care to those suffering from a range of diseases.

Anyone who knew him, will remember Dad as a man who was caring and selfless. Dad was hiking across Spain with a group of old and new friends in order to raise funds for this amazing service. In his 4 days of walking, they had raised over $50,000. In remembrance of Dad, we, his family and friends, wanted to continue to raise money for a cause that he was passionate about. Southern Area Hospice requires as much as $10,000,000AU every year to provide the care that they do. We've elected to try and raise as much as we can to make this a little easier for them.

So many people have reached out and offered our family flowers and support in this hard time, but instead we ask that you put that effort and that money towards helping this cause. Thank you to everyone who continues to help us.

https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/mickoconnorWe are setting up this Just Giving Page in memory of our beloved husband & father who sadly passed away while walking the Camino with friends,

These special friends undertake this walk annually in an effort to raise much needed funds for the Southern Area Hospice.

Following the recent death of my husband Michael on the Camino we as a family decided to set up a just giving page in his honour.  This was not only to support hospice but more importantly Gerard and Andrea McVeigh who supported our family through the ordeal.
I would like to request that the funds from this account be attributed to Gerard and Andrea's Cambodia trip.

Many thanks

All donations on this page will go directly to the Southern Area Hospice.

Thank you all for your generosity
