The Great North Air Ambulance Service keeps families together by saving lives. We provide critical care 365 days a year to the people of the North East, North Yorkshire, Cumbria and the Isle of Man.

Story

Mick's Miles is a fundraising challenge in memory of my Dad, Mick Wren, who died in July 2019 from congestive heart failure brought on by valvular heart disease. He died whilst running up Skiddaw Fell in The Lake District, his favourite place in the world. My fiancé Florian, myself, friends and family are going to hike 10 of the top 100 favourite British Ordnance Survey walks in 10 days, 5 walks of which happen to be in The Lake District. This challenge was chosen because Dad loved walking (but mainly running) in the great outdoors, especially if a large hill or mountain was involved, and we want to carry on this legacy.

We will be fundraising £2000 for four charities - British Heart Foundation because we want to help in the fight against heart disease like Dad had, The Great North Air Ambulance Service because they tried to save Dads life on the day he died, Jigsaw Cumbria's Children's Hospice because Dad was in the middle of contributing all the money from sales of his Joss Naylor prints to them and Fix the Fells because they fix upland paths within the Lakes which help keep Dads beloved Lake District accessible for all to enjoy. Ideally the money raised would be split equally between the four charities so if you kindly contribute, please could you contribute to the charity which has the lowest funds - this is the only way we can make sure that each charity receives a roughly equal amount as we have to create a separate page for each charity! The links for the fundraising page for each charity are at the bottom of this page. UPDATE! Fix the Fells and The Great North Air Ambulance Service have both achieved their £500 target which is INCREDIBLE!!! Therefore I have deactivated donations to their pages so as to give the other two charities a chance to reach their targets too.
