Film Night to mark sexual abuse and Sexual Awareness Week · 2 February 2020

JSAS Jewish Sexual Abuse Support (trading as Migdal Emunah LTD) is a UK charity founded in 2013 to support Jewish children, women, and men who have experienced sexual abuse. We employ qualified ISVAs (Independent Sexual Violence Advisors) and offer therapeutic and educational support.

Story

Please come along to join us on Sunday 2nd February at 8pm for a film night at JW3.  This is in order to mark sexual abuse and sexual violence awareness week and to raise awareness of sexual abuse in the Jewish Community.  Tickets are £25 (snacks included) but please donate more if you wish and there are concessions available. Also please do not pay anonymously as there will be a guest list at the door!

Your donations will help to provide counselling sessions for victims of sexual violence.

The film is called Unkept Secrets by Dalit Kimor:

What happens to a Jewish Orthodox, mother of eight, leading a quiet life when one day she finds out her admired rabbi, teacher of her sons, has been sexually abusing them since their Barmitzvah?

Genendi (42) is a married mother of three.  18 years ago she spoke out about being raped by her father, a famous rabbi, when she was a little girl.  Since then, none of her 11 siblings or her mother have spoken to her.  Genendi was shunned by her extended family too.
