We are a youth-driven organisation supporting a global movement of young people to take action. We exist to ignite youth-led action to create solutions to the world’s most urgent problems. We support young people by connecting them with the skills, networks, platforms and experiences to lead change.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page and thank you for your support!

This September I am volunteering with Raleigh International in Tanzania, for a period of 13 weeks. Raleigh's ethos is to create a sustainable lasting change through educating and inspiring youth.

The entirety of the money you give will go towards Raleigh's projects (additional costs such as flights, vaccinations & kit will be covered by me) in Tanzania ranging from Water, Sanitation & Hygiene (WASH) which includes building sanitation blocks in schools and gender separate toilets which prevent the spread of deadly diseases while providing privacy to female students (imperative for when menstruation starts, thus reducing drop out rates). Also, natural resource management and community resilience, which involves coaching and building confidence of entrepreneurs into becoming self-sufficient.

There is an inherent discrepancy in our way of living; our self-proclaimed proximity to each other in the age of communication and information becomes a contradiction when places like Tanzania and many more get left behind in the way they do.

What is global active citizenship? For me, it is a lot about numbers.

Approximately 75% of Tanzanians live in rural communities where adequate access to safe water and sanitation is rare.
58% of young Tanzanians do not complete secondary school.
65% of the population live below the poverty line.
 33% live in extreme poverty.

I believe in this work and I believe it makes a lasting change; however long and gradual the process is, the end of it, the changing of vulnerable lives in impoverished communities, is unmistakably real.

Raleigh has been working in Tanzania since 2013, building relationships with local communities and partners, which sets it apart when it comes to knowing the needs on the communities.

But there is still a lot of work to be done!

You can read more about Raleigh and the work we do here: https://raleighinternational.org/ and decide for yourself if you would like to support my cause.

Any contributions you can spare will be so greatly appreciated and count towards making a real positive impact on some of those most in need.

Raleigh International is a sustainable development charity that challenges and inspires volunteers from around the world to work with communities living in poverty. They work in remote, rural areas to improve access to safe water and sanitation, build community resilience, to sustainably manage the natural resources and to protect vulnerable environments.
