Running the London Marathon 2019 for CALM (Campaign Against Living Miserably) to help us save men's lives.

Story

If you are reading this and know me, I'm sure you are thinking this is some sort of joke/what on earth would make "Mike the slob" plod around London for 26 miles. Well, let me say this will be a sight to behold and is not a joke - I'm really doing it!!

Suicide has changed the lives of many people around me forever - so anything I can do to raise awareness and help this wonderful charity keep doing the amazing things they do is more than worth the blisters!

See below for more about the amazing charity CALM and what they do:

The Campaign Against Living Miserably (CALM) is leading a movement against male suicide, the single biggest killer of men under the age of 45 in the UK. Their goal is a life less miserable for you, your friends, your family and for all men.

CALM Provides:

  • A free helpline 0800 585858 and webchat (5pm-12am daily), which are confidential, anonymous and staffed by trained professionals
  • Bereavement support through the Support After Suicide Partnership, hosted by CALM
  • www.theCALMzone.net is CALMs website, hosting inspiring content written by men for men alongside information and support
  • Successful campaigns tackling stereotypes of masculinity, suicide and male mental health, including #BiggerIssues, #ManDictionary, #DontBottleItUp and #Project84CALMs helpline and webchat services directly prevented 427 suicides in 2017.
