Story
Thankyou for visiting our Just Giving Page.
Mike and his 2 sons, Chris and Adam are taking part in the Sea to Sea Charity Bike ride, from Whitehaven to Tynemouth (Newcastle), starting on 1 July 2013 to raise money for Birmingham Childrens’ Hospital and the Ronald McDonald House, riding 150 miles in total.
A very close family friend has been in BCH frequently over the last two years with her Son, who was born with a missing truncus arteriosus, which is a part of the wall between the left and right ventricles.
Ellis Steven Griffiths was born 04.06.2011 and had open-heart surgery at 6 days old, and was fighting for his life on several occasions. During his first open heart surgery, Ellis was in theatre for 7.5 hours, and was transferred to intensive care, and then moved to Ward 11, Heart Unit once on the mend. His 2nd open-heart operation took place on 27 January 2012, at just 7 months old. Along with his open-heart surgery, Ellis underwent 3 keyhole surgeries. Every operation was a difficult battle for Rebecca and Ashley, Ellis’s parents.
Ellis is now 2 years old, and a very fun loving character. He will still have to have operations to replace the missing valve, but for now Ellis is a very healthy and happy 2 year old, all because of these charities.
Please help support our Bike Ride. We want to support BCH as much as we can for giving Ellis an opportunity.
Thank you in anticipation, Mike, Chris and Adam
