Val's Tattoo for Dementia Action Week 2021

Val's Tattoo for Dementia Action Week · 10 May 2021
Val’s Tattoo for Dementia and the Alzheimer’s Society.
Val is a young 86 and wants to do two things this year. One is to have her first tattoo and the
second is to raise funds for Dementia and the Alzheimer’s Society.
Every week Val is at the Sit and Be Fit chair exercise
sessions organised by Rhuddlan Dementia Group.
The Sit and Be Fit sessions are great fun to be at, there is a great
tutor, lots of the right music and really good exercises that help people to
tone up without the stress of having to move around the hall. The Alzheimer’s Society says that physical
and mental exercise have the potential to prevent or slow down the effects of
dementia – “what’s good for the heart is good for the brain”. Val says she can see the benefits of the
sessions for everyone and especially for any people living with dementia.
Val says she has been thinking about having a tattoo for a
while and has decided “this is the year to do it”.
She also says that the Rhuddlan Dementia Group and the Alzheimer’s
Society do so much good work for those people living with dementia that she
wants to link her first tattoo with a fund-raising bid.
Val has selected a wonderful design showing forget-me-nots
which are the emblem of the Alzheimer’s Society, as you can see in the photo.
May the 17th is the start of Dementia Action Week
so this is a great time for fund-raising in aid of dementia.
Val is staring with a target of £200 for the Alzheimer’s
Society – let’s see if we can get that far and hopefully go beyond it. Many thanks, folks.
