Dementia UK is the specialist dementia nurse charity. Our nurses, called Admiral Nurses – who we continually support and develop – provide life-changing care for families affected by all forms of dementia, including Alzheimer’s disease.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

As well as overcoming cancer (twice) my dad suffered from vascular dementia. Dementia UK (now merged with Young Dementia UK) is a national charity that aims to improve the quality of life for people with dementia.

On Feb 12th, after eighteen months in the planning, I will be attempting to climb Mt Kilimanjaro at almost 20,000ft. Summit success is just 65% with altitude sickness accounting for the majority of failures.

This is a self-funded venture and for anyone who donates, I will send you a link to a YouTube vlogumentary, sharing my experience. The video includes:

•    The eight day climb via the Lemosho route. Possibly additional footage of a local non-profit making charity (The Knock Foundation) with a mission to increase educational and income-generating opportunities in Tanzania and East Africa through educational scholarships and an afterschool program.

•    An additional short video from my post-climb chill out and recovery days in Zanzibar; the island’s capital Stone Town with its famous spice market, Freddie Mercury museum, (and some beachfront and general footage).

I will include the link the moment it is published and post here.

I would be extremely grateful for your donation or sharing this with your connections in support.

Best wishes,

Mike Park
