MERA PEAK CLIMB · 29 October 2017

The FoRB support the Rose Bowl Youth Club in Islington to tackle youth social exclusion through innovative, targeted and effective programmes. Every young person deserves a chance and to direct their energies into positive activities that benefit themselves, their family and their community.

Story

Hi

On October 29th, I hope to summit MERA PEAK in Nepal which is 21,500 feet/6,500 metres high. It is just 20 miles from Everest and the top boasts 360' views of six out of seven of the world's highest peaks.

But, it is not exactly a walk in the park....

At 21,500 feet there is only 40% of the oxygen concentration at sea level. The summit is reached by trekking up a glacier for three says. We must climb on fixed ropes for the final ascent and then abseil off the top to get back down again.

I am hoping to raise funds to help the Rose Bowl Youth Club. A place where teenagers are helped and mentored through homework clubs on to the creation of Uni applications and CV's in to higher education and jobs. Having followed their work for 20 years I know that it is transformational for the life prospects of the young people who are helped there.

Thank you.

Mike
