Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.
We’re getting married in Australia on 18th December 2010.
It’s impossible to think of a family occasion in Perth without Mike’s son Richard being there with us – the last time Mike was there, Richard was with him celebrating his 26th birthday, but one month later he died, less than a year after being diagnosed with sarcoma.
Sarcoma is a rare and often aggressive form of cancer which tends to strike young people. Because it is rare and can appear in a variety of forms, it is often not recognised by GPs or consultants until it is too late. On average a GP will see one patient in their whole career with sarcoma.
We’ve set up this page instead of a present list, not only because we think we’ve probably already got everything a couple might need, but because we’d prefer to help Sarcoma UK in supporting patients who have sarcoma, promoting research into more effective treatments, and raising awareness in medical practitioners and the general public.
