This October I am cycling across Uganda on a mountain bike in the middle of monsoon season to raise money for Product of Prison (PoP).

PoP is an amazing organisation supporting prisoners in Uganda, who are often forgotten and persecuted as a group, suffering social and economic exclusion. I was lucky enough to go out and work with PoP last year and even visited a prison and even met with the inmates. It was an incredibly humbling experience and what you need to remember is that the justice system over there isn't the same as in the UK. People are sentenced to long-term jail time without proper trials or sometimes even evidence. But regardless, whether innocent or guilty they are all still human beings and the vast majority want to be able to reintegrate back into society when they are released. Without the help from organisations such as PoP, this would be extremely difficult.

PoP helps them develop skills and create opportunities for a better life when they are released, breaking the cycle of poverty, re-offending and imprisonment.  PoP also have a plan to become self-sufficient but need some help to get there!

I've basically cycled twice in the last 15 years.  Both times in Amsterdam, both times drunk.  So this isn't going to be easy for me.  I am also covering the full cost of the trip, so all money raised goes directly to PoP. As a small organisation, your donation will go so much further than it would for a large charity so please please support us!
