Seeing is Believing Fundraising · 7 April 2014 to 31 December 2019 ·

Seeing is Believing is a global initiative to help eliminate avoidable blindness. We help bring affordable eye-care to some of the poorest communities in the world. We’re a collaboration between Standard Chartered Bank and the International Agency for Prevention of Blindness (IAPB).

Story

Following London to Liverpool & Liverpool to London we are thrilled to be included in cycling 560km from Malaysia to Singapore from 26th-28th September to raise funds for Seeing is Believing. We shall be joining 38 intrepid colleagues as we meander our way from Kuantan, the state capital of Pahang (we’ll look it up later), down the east coast of Malaysia ending in Singapore 3 days later (drinks at Boulevard??). While there will be no seniors classification, we will put everything into getting bike fit and completing this for a great cause. We appreciate so many of you have been kind to donate in the past years, and hope you can contribute again to SiB for us! Seeing is Believing is a global initiative to help tackle avoidable blindness. Over 285 million people worldwide are either blind or visually impaired 80% of which can be prevented or treated. Since its launch 10 years ago, Seeing is Believing has helped 41 million such people, largely in the developing world and deprived urban areas. People in poorer countries need to make difficult choices about how they spend the little money they have. Despite its proven cost effectiveness, eye-care is not always given the attention it deserves Given that the average cataract operation for an adult costs only $30, while $16 will buy a child a pair of glasses, a little bit can go a long way. Please note that every dollar will be matched by Standard Chartered Bank, so even a nominal donation could go a long way to saving someone’s sight.
