Great North Run 2017 · 10 September 2017 ·

Diabetes UK is the charity leading the fight against the UK's devastating and fastest growing health crisis, working to create a world where diabetes can do no harm. It’s a fight that involves all of us – sharing knowledge and taking diabetes on together. Join us.

Story

After completing the Great Manchester Run (10km) in 2016, I have signed up for the Great North Run 2017, a half marathon taking place in Newcastle, which will be the furthest distance I have ever ran.

This takes place on Sunday 10th September 2017, my first wedding anniversary. Some people may think this is a strange thing to do on such a day, but I think personally it's a great idea.

My wife has been type 1 diabetic since the age of 4, and I shall be completing the run to raise money for Diabetes U.K, and hopefully make her life easier in any way possible.

Every day I see my wife cope wonderfully well with this condition, but I want to raise as much money as possible to help raise awareness, prevent ignorance, enable #DiabetesUK to conduct further research, and hopefully one day find a real cure.

Thanks in advance for any donations. Much appreciated.
