Mike runs the Manchester, San Francisco, and London Marathons for Bliss

London Marathon 2022 · 2 October 2022 ·
Our daughter Edie was born at 28 weeks and time has flown and she has now turned two!
Over the last year I have been building up my fitness and have decided to train and run the Manchester and London Marathons (six months apart) for Bliss, who are a very special charity who provide help and support to families of premature babies. Their resources were a great help during our three months on the neonatal unit and after and now I would like to do something to give back to them.
Running a marathon is especially close to my heart as my dad was a very keen marathon runner. While I have no chance of ever rivalling his times I have known for a long time that this is the marathon I would want to run if I ever had the opportunity.
The rate of babies born premature or sick in the UK is rising with 1 in every 7 babies needing neonatal care. Bliss is continuing the fight to improve outcomes and quality of life for these babies - but we need your help to do that.
I then decided to squeeze in the San Francisco Marathon while visiting a friend, which will mean three in a year and three by the time I turn 33.
