I'll be Live streaming the event from 06:00 Saturday morning until the finish so you can watch every pedal stroke and hold me to account for every meter climbed.

Almost everybody I know in the Cheltenham area and beyond have a family member, friend or colleague who has been supported by Sue Ryder. Personally, my Gran was cared for by the team in Cheltenham over 16 years ago. My Sister, Helen is now one of the team of wonderful nurses working at the same site. With their charity shops closing due to COVID-19, Sue Ryder need donations more than ever to keep providing their amazing level of care.

Everesting is the concept of riding the height of Mt Everest above sea level (8,848m) on a bike, in one go, by cycling up and down the same hill over and over again. On Saturday 18th April I will be attempting this challenge to raise money for the Sue Ryder Leckhampton Court Hospice. In light of the current restrictions, I will be using my turbo trainer (known in our house as the 'wurr wurr' - it makes sense if you hear it) and the Zwift cycling platform. Zwift simulates outdoor riding so I will feel every meter of ascent and every change in gradient, just like the real thing! I'm expecting the ride to take 12 to 14 hours, covering over 200km and burning over 8,000 calories (that's 45 Creme Eggs).

Sue Ryder Nurses and healthcare teams are always there for local people who are dying. They are providing incredible emotional support as well as specialist medical care to people who are finding themselves in unimaginably difficult circumstances. We are all facing something we have never faced before which is why Sue Ryder has launched an appeal to make sure that they are still here. I am asking you to give whatever you can afford at this difficult time. Every pound you give could make the difference to whether they can be there or not. It is that simple.

Sue Ryder is here to make sure everyone approaching the end of their life or living with grief can get the support they need. There is no one size fits all when it comes to how we cope and the help we need, but with our support, no one has to face dying or grief alone. We are there when it matters.
