Story

To celebrate my 50th birthday and to commemorate the first anniversary of the final shutdown of Hinkley Point B's reactor 4, I have agreed to take part in a charity wingwalk experience for Prostate Cancer UK.

The sponsored challenge will take place on Friday 7 July at RFC Rendcomb Airfield in Cirencester, and I will be standing on the top wing of a classic 1940s Boeing Stearman plane.

People have asked whether I have an irrational fear of heights or of flying, which to be honest I don't.

What I do have is a perfectly rational fear of being strapped on the outside of an aeroplane, particularly one that needs twice as many wings as normal to stay up in the air!

What have I let myself in for...?

Prostate Cancer UK is a fantastic charity, and any sponsorship would be very much very appreciated
