Story
We are Atula and Milan, and we love walking. As our friends and family know, we walk regularly and have trekked in mountainous and challenging places.
However, what has inspired us to take on the serious challenge of the TCS Virtual London Marathon this October 2nd, is our passion for the wonderful work of Raj Saubhag Humanitarian in around the village of Sayla, in rural Gujarat.
90% of the funds we raise will be supporting the running of the existing hospital, and a specialist eye hospital. Every month, the community health centre hospital conducts 60 deliveries, nearly 500 major and minor operations, 6000 lab tests, 150 X-rays and sees around 7500 outpatients and over 700 inpatients. The eye hospital conducts over 1,100 procedures a month and will soon reach 1,500 a month. The demand and needs are high, and the local population appreciates the service. In the updates below you can see more of the vital work provided in rural Gujarat.
5% will support the work of MacMillanCancer, which provides incredible and much-needed support to patients facing cancer and their families, and
5% will support Gratitude, a local charity doing a great deal to support the needy in Borehamwood and beyond, with a food bank, clothes banks and so many more thoughtful and specialist needs, such as school uniforms and everything needed for a new baby.
