Mildred's 5K challenge

Mildred's 5K challenge · 26 September 2020
On Sep 2nd 2019, I collapsed outside work and was rushed to hospital by ambulance.
What I thought would be an in and out job ended up with a diagnosis I didn’t see coming.
Brain tumour.
I went through a six-hour surgery to have the tumour removed.
I spent three days in intensive care, one month in hospital and it took two more months before I could begin to walk again.
Today I am 95% fully recovered, I regularly do runs, my business is thriving, my fourth book is out soon and I’m healthier and happier than I’ve ever been.
I wouldn’t be here today if it wasn’t for my faith (thank you, Jesus!), the support of my incredible husband, family & friends, and the brilliant doctors, nurses and catering team at St George’s Hospital that took such good care of me.
My plan pre-Covid was to do the Tough Mudder challenge in September 2020 to mark the one year anniversary of me being brain tumour-free and to fundraise for St George’s neurology unit as a thank you.
Instead I’m going to attempt to do a sole post-surgery 5K run in less than 30mins on Sat 26 September - the one-year anniversary day of me leaving hospital.
I would be so very grateful if you can sponsor me by donating what you can on my Just Giving page here.
My goal is to raise at least £500.
Thank you and please go live your best life today because tomorrow is not promised. 🙏🏿🧡
