Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

Hi my name is Miles Haslam and I am riding from Lands End to John O'Groats from the 6th of June to the 15th of June 2014, raising money for two charities Buxton Mountain Rescue Team and Blythe House Hospice.

Having been riding and racing the bike now for some 35+ years, I decided a new challenge was in store for myself this year, so the trip was planned.

I joined Mountain Rescue Team in 2005 and to mark the team's 50th year celebration I am donating 50% of the funds raised to rescue.

My job is a physiotherapist with my clinic based in chapel-en-le-frith. Both from a personal and patient point of view I recognise the importance of Blythe house and the services it provides so it was a natural choice for me to donate the other 50% to Blythe House.

I have been inspired to support Blythe House by the experiences of a friend Alison Lea. She was supported by Blythe House through her recovery from treatment for breast cancer and she was impressed with the services they provided. She is also interested in cycling as her husband Chris has been a very active member of Buxton Cycling club, and I have ridden with him for many years.

The route I am taking is from south to north taking advantage of any tail winds and on main roads. The overall distance being about 1000 miles. A little closer to my start date I will confirm the route details so people wanting to join me and give me a wheel can do so.

I will complete the trip in 10 days. In traditional style I am doing the ride solo and unsupported utilising varying accommodation on the way.

Although the trip is a mini adventure the generation of funds though donations is important for my two charities.

Buxton Mountain Rescue relies entirely upon donations for the team to function and Blythe house likewise is dependent upon donations to allow them to provide their services.

Please support me by donating via my just giving page and please forward the link to other friends to help me raise funds. Every donation small or large is important so thank for for your support
