Miles for Max · 21 September 2013
29 December 2012, 3 weeks earlier than expected, our beautiful baby boy was born.
Max's arrival had been traumatic, our little boy was born with Haemolytic disease of the newborn (severe anaemia). Sadly Max needed an exchange transfusion - removing his blood from his body and replacing it with new blood. Max's blood had to come from Bristol, and it is volunteers like those at the Severn Freewheelers who deliver such things. Without these guys doing the job they do, we would not have our beautiful 4 and a half month old baby with us today. The speedy delivery of the blood, coupled with an excellent consultant ensured the trauma Max had suffered ended in Special Care Baby Unit and Max was given the best chance of a 'normal' life.
We are so thankful for all the work that people like this do, and if we could help another family then we will do what we can......
