Walking Miles for Milly's Smiles · 12 May 2019

Milly's Smiles provides a Holdall Bag, known as a Milly Bag for all children who have been newly diagnosed with a cancer related illness, and admitted into hospital. The bag contains lots of essential and luxury items that will help them through the first frightening weeks of their journey.

Story

The Event

Sunday 12th May 2019 | 6:30am to 6:30pm | Pavilion Cafe, Witton Park, Blackburn BB2 2TP

It’s a sponsored walk to raise money for the amazing Milly’s Smiles charity.

The idea is that people can come along and walk for the full 12 hours or just do what they can.

Each walker will have a card stamped each time they complete a mile loop. At the end of the event the cards will be collected and we will count up how many miles people have walked for Milly’s Smiles!

You can join us at anytime between 6:30am and 6:30pm.

Why it's important to us

Lorraine, Milly’s Mum and the founder of Milly’s Smiles, attended Blackburn Couch to 5K in April 2014 with her eldest daughter Hannah.

They both successfully completed the programme. Lorraine then moved on to our Progression Group, whilst Hannah became one of our youngest ever Couch to 5K volunteers.

Milly was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukaemia in the autumn of 2014. On September 20th 2015 Milly sadly passed away with her family beside her.

You can read more about Milly here and keep up with the charity’s latest news on the Milly’s Smiles Facebook page.
