Story

Hi I’m Corinne and the photo above is of my gorgeous little family, Neil, Noah, Waffle Dog and me!

On 14th August 2019 I was admitted into George Eliot Hospital to have our baby. We received amazing care by all the team on Drayton and labour ward. They were truly amazing.

Unfortunately not everything went to plan, our little guy and my body didn’t exactly react well to being induced. Suddenly the room was filled with people and I was rushed in for a c-section. Our perfect little baby was born and we finally saw his perfect little face.

Sadly though he wasn’t in the best shape. He was rushed away before even being able to hold or kiss him. Several hours later, a very kind consultant came to tell us that his lungs were premature and that he was struggling to regulate his breathing without help. He told us that our tiny newborn had to be sent to University Coventry Hospital. We were allowed to wait in Special Care with him while the transport team came to collect him.

A wonderfully kind nurse came and spoke to us, she explained what all the monitors did on the travel incubator and how safe he’d be. The team then went to work to get him ready to leave. All we could do was watch our previous little boy leave when we had to stay. The nurse who had spoken to us called me as soon as they arrived at the hospital, and again when he’d been admitted.

Again, the team at Coventry were incredible and when our little guy was ready to return the CenTre neonatal transport team bought him back to us at George Eliot.

We honestly can’t put into words how thankful we are to absolutely every team and person who looked after Noah for us, especially when we couldn’t be there to protect him.

The CenTre Neonatal Transport team, we’re a team that I’d never heard of before, but provide an essential service to tiny little ones when they need to get to the place that can help them.  So, I’d like to send them a little bit of gratitude. Through July, August and September I am pledging to walk 1 Million steps to raise money for their Little Lives Big Journeys fundraising event. I’ve chosen August to be the middle month as this is Noah’s 2nd birthday, and Miles is the little mascot bear they give to every single baby that they transport to keep them company, and to keep them safe on their journey.

Thank you so much for reading our story.
