Wheelchair Challenge · 1 March 2018
This year, we’re asking people across the country to spend 24 hours using a wheelchair to raise awareness and funds for Back Up. The challenge will kick off on International Wheelchair Day 1 March 2018 and run throughout the entire year.
Many people with a spinal cord injury use a wheelchair, and this challenge offers people a unique insight into their experiences. Until you use a wheelchair yourself, you may never realise the difficulties people can face accessing public transport, going to the shops or even just making a cup of tea. Back Up’s wheelchair skills trainers give people with a spinal cord injury the skills and confidence they need to use their chair confidently and independently.
By taking part in this challenge for Back Up, you could contribute to our wheelchair skills sessions and other services that make an enormous difference to the lives of many people affected by spinal cord injury.
The beauty of the challenge is that you can do it anywhere you like - at your office, school, at home - to make it fit in with your lifestyle. Be part of something amazing over the next year by either donating to support, or taking up the Wheelchair challenge yourself! Get in touch at 020 8875 1805 if you're interested in taking part.
