In September, which is thyroid cancer awareness month, I will be running the great north run alongside my dad and boyfriend to raise money for the Butterly thyroid trust. Butterfly is a charity that provides support for people with thyroid cancer, which is something very close to my heart.

Thyroid cancer is rare form of cancer but the numbers are rising each year. There are around 3400 new cases of thyroid cancer found every year, but this is estimated to rise by 74% over the next 20 years. Survival rates for this type of cancer is high, but often the treatment can leave patients feeling very alone.

The Butterfly thyroid cancer trust provides in depth information for people diagnosed with thyroid cancer, and provides patient support to make everything feel less scary. They also provide a network for people to ensure they do not feel like they are alone.
