Campaign by Mind (RCN 219830)
RED January is here to help people support their mental health with physical activity, in partnership with Mind, the leading mental health charity.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page. Yay!

MILLIE:

Anyone who knows me will know how much I HATE exercising (avoiding it at all costs)... BUT (drumroll) this January I will be taking part in ‘RED January’ for the mental health charity - Mind.

This means (noooooo) that I will be exercising EVERY DAY in January (help!) and I would love it if you could show your support (because you’re amazing and lovely) and contribute to this incredibly important cause.

"1 in 4 people will experience a mental illness yet there is still something taboo about saying I am feeling anxious today" - WMHD16

Whether it is you or someone you know... I am doing RED January to raise awareness and reduce the stigma. Remember: your mental health is just as important as your physical health.

Lots of love!

KARA:

So, it appears I have been convinced into joining Red January by a certain someone...
So, first step, google 'exercise.'
Second step, panic! "An activity requiring physical effort, carried out to sustain or improve health and fitness!!!" Whaaaaat?!?!
Third step, ponder how I can possibly bend this meaning to enable me to actually survive and succeed!
Fourth step, check for the 100th time that Red January requires DAILY exercise...yep...ok...hmmm...
Did you also know that "exercise is one of the most effective ways to improve your mental health... It relieves stress, improves memory, helps you sleep better, and boosts overall mood!" I can get on board with that, after all, my memory is shocking! Maybe I will actually forget that Im supposed to be doing this!
With such a huge push and training to raise awareness of mental health, even with kids right down in Primary, we must raise awareness and reduce stigma around this this hidden disease. So please spare your Friday night drinks money this week and support me in my Red January feat!
