In February 2015, I will volunteer for 10-12 weeks on a development programme with Restless Development in South India. This is part of International Citizen Service (ICS), which brings young people together to fight poverty and make a difference where it is needed most. I’ll be working alongside volunteers from the UK and India, on a project that facilitate health programs and livelihood enhancement action plan for young people to get meaningful and gainful employment/business, helping them get out of the poverty cycle.

Being selected for ICS is a three part process made up of fundraising, the placement itself and Action at home.ICS works with communities that have specifically requested their help. It also aims to inspire young people in the UK and overseas to become active citizens who are passionate about long term community development. After I return from my placement, I will continue working to raise awareness about some of the real and immediate needs at home and across the globe. 

I need to raise £800 before I depart for Restless Development who are one of the respected development charities that deliver ICS. The money raised will ensure that ICS can send 7,000 UK volunteers overseas and work with 7,000 in country volunteers to help fight poverty.This will allow them to continue to bring about positive change in the developing communities where they work.You can check out their amazing work here
