Story

Hi, thank you for visiting my page!

Having only started running again at the beginning of 2018, I’ve decided to take on the challenge of running Swindon Half Marathon in September. I wanted to do something that would challenge me, as I’ve never really covered longer distances. Swindon Advocacy Movement is a great local charity and I thought it’d be great to get some fundraising in for them too!

SAM is a charity that works with some of the most vulnerable adults and children in Swindon. We provide support to those living with Autism, mental health issues, learning disabilities, dementia, as well as children with special educational needs.

Many of these people are socially isolated. We at SAM wish to promote change and inclusion by creating a contemporary welcoming place: “SAMs Space” will ensure people feel welcomed and accepted a place to learn new skills and become more independent, meet friends, share ideas and drink tea.

To realise this vision we need to transform a rundown, uninviting old Victorian house – into a warm, vibrant space that is accessible to everyone and becomes a Swindon asset.
We estimate the transformation, starting June 2018, will take 1000 hours of labour and £20,000 worth of resources.
