South Wales abseilers have high hopes for fundraiser
Local residents keen to take the plunge in aid of charity can achieve their dream with the help of a Pyle-based rope access company.
Experienced and professional abseilers at Mistras Group Ltd will be expertly helping adventurous souls raise money for Children in Need in a sponsored abseil off Swansea’s BT Tower.
Mistras Group is a global leader in asset management and non-destructive testing in areas such as the steel industry, wind energy generation and offshore oil drilling, and staff in the company’s South Wales office in Pyle are arranging the event on 22nd October between 9am and 5pm
“Having the best team of working at height professionals is clearly central to our work, whether that be changing the blades on an offshore wind turbine, safety testing inside a blast furnace or the sensitive upkeep of an ancient Welsh castle.
“Working off ropes and a harness at breath-taking height is second nature to our guys, so anyone who wants to take part in our Children in Need sponsored abseil can rest assured they will be in the best hands they could possibly be.”
Abseilers Stephan Bailey & Gavin Cytlau will be helping participants into their harnesses and encouraging them as they scale down the sides of the Swansea landmark for Pudsey bear and pals.
Gavin said: “We’re hoping those taking part will have fun, feel like they have achieved something and hopefully raise some lovely money for Children in Need.
“We have all been doing this for many, many years, on wind turbines, offshore, from buildings, cranes… you name it. Here at Mistras Group in Pyle, we also train people for their Working at Height qualifications.
“It’s natural to feel nervous, but really, abseiling is suitable and safe for anyone.”
There is space for 50 people to take part; to get involved contact Elvira at Elvira.Brocher@mistrasgroup.co.uk
