Three Peaks Challenge · 4 July 2014

Founded in 1969, as a playgroup for children with disabilities, and unique across Stoke-on-Trent, Staffordshire and Cheshire, no other charity does what we do in our region. We are Early Years specialists, giving children aged 0-5 with special needs the best start in life.

Story

We have selected Peter Pan, a local nursery for children with special needs, to be our designated charity for 2014.  You may have heard in the media that it’s recently lost much needed lottery funding this year.

We’ve visited the nursery and seen first-hand the great work done by this unique charity on our doorstep in Newcastle – from developing and maximising the potential of the children in their care, to providing much needed respite and support to their parents.  The nursery provides care and education to children from birth to 5 years old with wide ranging disabilities, conditions and syndromes such as Cerebral Palsy, Down’s Syndrome and visual and hearing impairments.

10 members of the team will be climbing Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike and Snowdon, all within 24 hours, including travelling.  It will be a challenge, but well worth it for such a deserving charity.
