Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I foolishly volunteered to undertake this mammoth bike ride many months ago'. As the time draws nearer I've decided that there has to be some purpose to this other than an opportunity for friends and family to laugh at me!
My daughter, Amelia, currently volunteers at the Otley and Dales RDA charity every Sunday morning, which she started a few months back as part of her DofE award
I have chosen this fabulous local charity, which is entirely run by volunteers, to fund-raise for after seeing all the amazing work they do, enriching the lives of children through horses and ponies.
Their aim is to provide riding activities to children with disabilities. It is well recognised that horse riding provides many physical therapeutic benefits for the riders, as well as gaining skills and boosting confidence, improving communication skills and helping to build new relationships. Fun activities are key and the children are helped by the young volunteers to guide the horses, sidewalk with them and support them whilst riding.
I have seen that the children really enjoy what they do and hope that I can raise enough money so that the group can afford essential equipment that is needed for the exercises and safety of the children.
A great write up about this local group and the impact they have can be found at www.different-lives.co.uk/riding/
