As many of you know, in 2009 I set my sights on becoming a triathlete. Perhaps not a very good one, but a triathlete nonetheless.
As my training has progressed, my ambitions have also grown, to the point that I have now declared that 2010 will hereby be known as 'The Year of Living Painfully'!
The concept is a simple one; to take part in at least one competitive event (mainly Triathlons, but some Duathlons and perhaps even the odd running race) each month throughout the whole of 2010. Yes, that's a minimum of 12 races in 2010.
To spur me on, and to make the whole adventure that little bit meaningful, I have decided to do it for charity. And for 2010, I have chosen Unicef.
Why Unicef? Well, for at least two very good reasons:1. They help children who need it most in over 190 countries around the world
2. They are truly global - I am lucky to have friends, family and colleagues across the world; this charity will is just a relevant in the US, Australia or Germany as it is in the UK
Track my progress.I'll be keeping this page updated with the details of each race that I enter, adding new events as I go.
You can also track my training progress and missives on my Triathlon blog -

Thanks,
Matt
