Families will have thought that life could not get harder, but each year the crisis deepened, and, today, they face malnutrition, cholera, dirty water, and COVID-19, all while the conflict continues. This year, the UN declared that Yemen is facing the worst humanitarian crisis in the world. This year, humanitarian need has increased by 27 per cent. As winter arrives, displaced families are being forgotten, left to survive in temporary shelters that don’t protect them from frost, sub-zero temperatures, and heavy rainfall. “Whoever removes a grief from a believer from amongst the sorrows of this life, Allah will remove a grief from him amongst the sorrows of the Day of Resurrection” (Muslim) 94% of Syrian refugees in Lebanon don’t have enough food to eat.
