Update 13th March 2010
The event was well attended, showing the importance of this charity. 56 fundraisers (including me) maked it across the hot coals. Thank you all for your support, I'm still looking for as much money from everyone else as possible.
Not only did I have to brave the coals but worst of all the bar didn't even have gin. Otherwise it was a very good night and has inspired us to attempt the Three Peaks Challenge, climbing the highest mountains in Scotland, England and Wales within 24 hours. I'll be putting up details of what we're doing and how our training is going.
Thanks again.
Grant
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
On the 12th of March 2010 I'll be partaking in the worlds shortest sponsored walk. It's only 20 feet long and I think I've built up the stamina to take on this challenge. However, someone thought it would be a good idea to line the track with hot coals. I've not spent much time training for that yet but it's only 1236 Fahrenheit (669 celsius for those young enough to use the Internet) and to be honest with all the snow about at the moment it'll probably be a pleasant change.
The reason I want you to donate money is not for bandages, ice and a gin to put it in but for MND Scotland. They support those affected by Motor Neurone Disease (MND). MND is a neurodegenerative disease. Symptoms can include loss of movement, speech impairment, and eating difficulties. MND affects over 360 people in Scotland and 100,000 worldwide. It is a fatal illness with no known cause or cure. MND Scotland aims to provide the best possible support for all people affected by MND.
Visit their website at http://www.mndscotland.org.uk/ or Wikipedia http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MND for a bit more information. For those of you with a very strong constitution and the emotional sturdiness of a rock see the awareness video on their website (seriously it is rated 15) http://www.mndscotland.org.uk/mnd/watchsarahsstory.php.
Please give generously, I've got to overcome twenty-something years of knowing not to step on something burning red hot. If it goes well that's a great feat (feet) and if it goes badly mum has already blamed Julie so you'll get to witness mum coming across to take it out on her. Either way money well spent I think.
