Mohammed's 10K Run for Mayors 5 Charity · 6 July 2020

THE MAYOR OF CROYDON’S CHARITIES 2021-22 I have chosen three charities: The Lily Pad Appeal to create children’s oncology unit. Crisis UK, the national charity for homeless people and Beani Bazar Cancer and General Hospital, improving awareness of cancer symptoms among disadvantaged communities

Story

I am Mohammed Islam, living and working in Croydon. I have been very busy volunteering in charity work during the COVID-19 pandemic. I am one of the founding members and also the joint Secretary of British Bangladeshi Society Croydon (BBSC).

We have been providing food bank services since the beginning of the lockdown and still continuing every sunday at Queens Community Centre, 1 Turner Crescent, Croydon. We have provided hot meals to our heroes NHS staff at Croydon University Hospital and other NHS Hubs around Croydon during the lockdown. We have also provided hot meals for homeless peoples in Croydon.

In the past I have run the Flora London Marathon in 2001 and
completed the 26.2 miles run under 5 Hours for the charity Afghan Aid. So I am willing to get back onto the road and cover a 10K run for
The Mayor of Croydon Councillor Humayun Kabir's 5 great charities he
supports.

Mr Mayor Councillor Humayun Kabir has been very supportive for BBSC food bank and all the other services we have been providing to the community during the COVID-19 lockdown.

I would be very grateful to everyone for sponsoring my 10K run to support the Mayor's 5 chosen charities listed below.
