Story

As a means of sadaqah jariah for my  Late Son, Mohammed Abdur-Rahman, 25 June 2015

NB: THIS APPEAL IS ZAKAT INELIGIBLE

Assalamu Alaikum,

We are a band of brothers who went to Hajj with the Hasan Hajj company in 2014, we have made the intention to fundraise for a solar powered water well in a Rohingya refugee camp in Bangladesh.

Rohingya Muslims are among the most persecuted people in the world, and have faced countless horrors for decades. Many have had their homes burned and destroyed, and they have to flee from Myanmar for fear of violence, rape, torture, murder and other horrors. Some have sought refuge in neighbouring Bangladesh, where charities like Islamic Help are helping to provide for their essential needs, including water.
In-sha-Allah, the solar powered water well we aim to provide will
benefit our Rohingya brothers and sisters, providing clean water for drinking, wudu, washing and cooking, and we pray it will be a sadaqah jariyah (recurring charity) in the name of family members and loved ones. May Allāh accept it and reward them in the akhirah.

The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said, “When a man dies, his acts come to an end, but three: sadaqah jariyah (recurring charity); or knowledge (by which people) benefit; or a pious son, who prays for him (for the deceased). [Sahih Muslim, 1631]

Sa’id reported Sa’d came to the Prophet (ﷺ)and asked him, “Which sadaqah do you like most?” He (ﷺ) replied, “[Providing] water. [Abu Dawud, 1679]

Allah says in the Qur’an, “By means of water, we give life to everything.” [Qur’an, 21:30]

Communities who don’t have access to clean water face unimaginable hardships, with women and children walking for hours to collect even a little water, and families unable to support themselves due to lack of education and livelihood. Having access to safe water is a basic human right and fulfilling this right is an excellent sadaqah jariyah, especially for the Rohingya who are among the world’s most persecuted people and have suffered so much in recent years.

So please give generously and may Allah grant you and your family the sweet drink of Jannah. Ameen!
