Moira's Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge for ACE

Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge for A.C.E · 5 July 2021
Hi
I'm Moira I'm doing the Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge in August and thought what a good way to raise some money for a charity very personal to me. ACE is a young people's charity based in Lancaster who provide emotional health and wellbeing therapy free of charge. They have helped me personally since 2016 and I would love to give them something back in return for their amazing work they do for young people in the Lancaster area.
About the Challenge, I will be doing it in August with a small group of us. The Three peaks are Whernside (736m), Ingleborough (723m) and Pen-y-ghent (694m) situated in the Yorkshire Dales National Park. I will be hiking up all three peaks including hiking between them.
The challenge is to hike 24 miles, including 1585m (5200ft) of ascent in under 12 hours.
Me and my mum have been training every weekend since January (hence the photos I uploaded). Due to covid restrictions we started off walking 2 hours from our home in the countryside. These walks really helped our mental health during this time. As restrictions lifted we have been travelling further afield for our training. Just recently we have done The Old Man of Coniston and walked 13 miles along the Lancaster Canal.
Thank you for taking your time to read this and any donation is gratefully received for a charity that has helped young people (including myself) so much in our local area.
