Hi, I am Mollie Cowen and I am 15 years old. Like many people, lockdown gravely affected my mental health by taking away everything i was used to; my family, my friends, school and my sport to name a few. It ended up getting so bad that on the 19th April 2021, alongside other mental health problems, I was diagnosed with Anorexia. I tried to recover at home but it was simply too hard for me and I ended up being admitted to an inpatient unit where I spent six months of my life rebuilding myself. I will not go into details about my stay as I do not wish for others to use my story as a goal or target to reach in order to be sick 'enough' because for your eating disorder you will never be ill enough and everyone deserves recovery. Even now, nearly two months after discharge I can still find no words to describe the journey I have been on. Now it is my time to help, I want to help others have the ability to speak out before it is too late. I want others to be able to get the support that is needed as mental health services are under so much pressure. Beat can help with that, they offer amazing support to all with varying eating disorder and never discriminate against anyone.
