I have decided to set myself the ultimate challenge and run an ultra-marathon. As some of you will know I was lucky enough to run the 2019 London Marathon for Macmillan and it was an experience I will never forget. As I've already completed 42.2k, 50k didn't seem enough, so I've gone for 100k this time!

I am doing this for my mum, a true inspiration, cancer survivor and hero. In October 2021 she was diagnosed with breast cancer, to say this rocked mine and my families world would be an understatement. She is the glue that keeps us together, the constant pillar of support and overflowing fountain of knowledge, the thought that she could be taken from us was undescribable. You hear stories from friends and colleagues who have had someone close to them battle cancer, but you never think it will happen to your family, and you can't begin to prepare for the moment when that news comes.  

My mum fought, and won, her battle selflessly, continually putting others before her as she has done my entire life, doing it all whilst keeping a smile on her face. My family and I will never be able to fully understand the journey she experienced, or how she managed to take the brighter, positive path in every situation she faced. 

By no means is taking part in this ultra-marathon anywhere near the battle my mum confronted, but if I can raise money to help those going through what my family and I experienced, it's the least I can do.

On the 8th July 2023 I will set out to complete the 100k race all to raise money for Cancer Research. I hope to raise as much as I can to support an incredible charity.
