We support local children and young people to keep them safe from child exploitation

Story

In 2017 the BBC released a drama I was part of, called Three Girls. It told the true story of three girls who were groomed and sexually abused in Rochdale. The National Crime agency found that nearly 560 children were trafficked for sexual exploitation in 2017. It is expected that 1 in 20 children experience sexual abuse, that’s one child in every classroom. Numbers are expected to rise due to social media.

I connected with a local charity called Safe and Sound, who provide support for victims of child sexual exploitation, educational awareness and training & consultancy for practitioners working with young people to try and prevent CSE. For a week in December 2017, I wore Christmas fancy dress (at the shops, in an audition, at BAFTA HQ, in the gym etc) and managed to raise £2,600 for Safe and Sound.

On 29th February 2020 I will be doing an abseil (!) and hope we can raise some more money to ensure that Safe and Sound can continue their vital work to protect young people. It would mean the world to me if you could spare a small donation, or check out their website (many children will get electronic devices for Christmas and it only takes a minute to read their tips on how you can keep them safe online), and Three Girls is available to watch on BBC Iplayer or Netflix.

Thank you so much,

Molly x
