Story

I choose to do this challenge as I need to get fitter I love the water this personal to me as national gave me opportunity I never thought I was capable of lessons carried all way though to this day. 2013 I started national star college with broken education due to health as well as cerebral palsy with two major operations. When came scared emotionally by battle to getting specialist provision plus many years mainstream failing. when came to star I thought was not worth making effort to make friend as was not going stay long. Oh how wrong I was by Easter term my wall started to come down slowly I made friends with the legendary Overton gang. Toward end of the year, I had confidence to apply for a Student Union executive elections witch I won position after weeks of campaigning. I had learnt achieved to be able go into town with my friends something never done. End year came time to go home I finished my first year. Back after summer ready to start my second year or as I like to call it my party year. This was a year with a real buzz about it we started of the I full swing The Unbreakable being filmed which was gave us a platform to speak about issue faced to show we are same everyone else by thing we what in life. This was also just a fun year I turned 18 which means which like means like many came before I took my right have a drink celebrated in fall. This was year I also learnt to sew in year I do not advise this as I had to be good but to this day, I do lovely applique. This is year I really found who was confidence was up starting to learn what stood for as person. But because getting all rounded education my course work was 10xbetter for it as developing in well-rounded human being. End year came got re-elected for student union. But this was happy and sad time as friends leaving but time for Overton close it door if those walls could tell stories. But in honour we had one last big bash with garden party to remember. But on to new horizons with opening of Bradbury gardens in September. 3rd year moved brand new flat with flat mate Beth this was year at star I learnt what truly like to be adult. I had gone from only having to cook once a week diner to cooking dinner every day as well as making breakfast and lunch. We still had a cleaner coming in everyday but turned out there was jobs in between when came divided up jobs we cook together everything else week took in turns every other day but when came drying we defiantly believed it was natures work we played a little game washing up Jenga. This would only end when no get to something needed so give in put it away. Student union wise this was year I learnt how to be true advocate for student. But also learnt valid lesson for life you can’t do it all no matter how heard you try. My proudest work on student union was updating the star bar we had number students asking us if we could help so as I was in art department. I was the one who gained the task to led the project first thing to do was to actually look at space empty the theme kept coming up it was stuck in the 80s. Eventually we could start on artwork which pop art panels with college giving it a new lick of paint we had green wall and other three where cream the bar felt like are space again. This brought reputation that we high level artworks we were able to do commissions to high standard we got a lot more work. End of year came it was time say goodbye to star I had my least summer ball then it’s time to graduate it felt like longest week. I Packed up bag left July 2016. National star doesn’t just make people more independent it gives confidence furthermore it give opportunity nowhere else can give national star was making I able grow to flourish into person I am today I can’t thank them enough.
