Great North Run 2015 · 13 September 2015 ·
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
After a disastrous London Marathon last year (2014)I stopped running, my mojo had well and truly gone. Kept trying to get out there but nothing could tempt me.
Decided that unless I could get a ballot place for VLM to conquer the demons then the only other "big" race that I would ever want to do was GNR. (2015) I entered the Daily Mail ballot (3000 places) but was unlucky - story of my life - but they automatically entered me for the normal ballot.
February 9th the ballot closed, 2 days later while I was in hospital I got an email to say that I was in! Best news ever - except that I wasn't allowed to start training.
Decided that since I had my own place I wanted to raise money for Bowel Cancer UK - not only did my Dad have the disease but also other members of my family recently my Mum's cousin Joyce. My friend Lizzie's Dad has just been recently diagnosed and I want to do as much as I can to raise awareness and funds.
**** Fast forward **** GNR came and went last weekend and since my diagnosis of Breast Cancer and I am now have had surgery and am nearly half way through chemo and will be having radiotherapy.
I have my deferred place for GNR so will still be running in aid of Bowel Cancer UK - training will start after treatment and I have some great races inbetween to look forward to including the chocathon, wineathon and the cakeathon and pieathon.
