Story
We are participating in the "London to Windsor charity cycle challenge 2015" to raise awareness and funds for the Mary Seacole memorial statue appeal.
This fun ride is being organised by Bike Events and consists of three routes: 29 miles, 37 miles and 55 miles starting on The Green in Richmond, (just in front of the Moore Blatch Richmond office) with all routes finishing at Alexandra Gardens, Windsor.
The Mary Seacole appeal is raising funds for a public memorial of Mary Seacole who nursed sick and wounded British soldiers on the front line during the Crimean war. The statue is being sculpted by the eminent sculptor Martin Jennings and will be unveiled in due course at St Thomas' hospital.
Moore Blatch partner Trevor Sterling is an ambassador for this worthy cause which not only aims to acknowledge the contribution of Mary Seacole to nursing during the Crimean war, but to recognise the continued self-less efforts of nurses today.
The campaign's other supporters include the Jamaican high commission, the mayor of London, the Royal College of Nursing, UNISON, Unite, NHS employers, NHS confederation and a number of army units. It is also being supported by Olympian Denise Lewis and ex-footballer Efan Ekoku.
