Hannah and Maddy are making idiots of themselves... but this time it's for a good cause - helping Sarkathili school, Nepal. We might not be able to do Movember... but we CAN do MOOvember.
We are going to wear cow costumes all day every day - you have the power to control how long for by sponsoring us to look like fools.
For every £30 we raise, we'll wear the costumes for one more day. If we raise more than £30 in one day, the total will roll over to the next.
But what's all this for? Back in the summer we both taught in a school in Sarkathali, Nepal. The kids were completely adorable, look through our photos if you don't believe us. We had the most amazing time, but would love to help improve their school.
Your money will go towards:
- Building a wall around the playground. There is currently only a two foot wall separating the children from a hundred foot drop down to a river. Also flattening the playground (to get rid of the crater and quarrying materials)
- Contributing to building a new classroom. At the moment the Kindergarten children learn outside under a piece of corregated iron, even in Monsoon season.
- Walls in between the classrooms
- Story books and a dictionary
- Paper, pens, pencils
- Some new blackboards
- Sponsoring individual children. Some of the children have a two and a half hour walk to school each way across mountainous terrain, meaning they are exhausted while at school, and often don't come at all. It would make a huge difference if they could stay with a family in the village, and a little money would allow them to do that.
Thank you so much for anything you can give, large or small. And remember - the more you give, the longer we look stupid. Can we manage for the whole of Moovember?
Anyone who thinks this sounds spookily familiar, the inspiration for this challenge came from Cat Davison. Thank you Cat Davison!
Also anyone who is questioning the connection between a Nepalese school and dressing up as cows - it's fairly tenuous, frankly, but our village really loved cows. The children REALLY loved cows. Every story they made up had cows in. And we thought they might quite like pictures of us dressed up as cows.
