Story
My name is Morag and I have three children Jess, George and Annie with my husband Neil.
Annie, the youngest was born in December 2009 and we were delighted to complete our family by taking her home from the hospital on Hogmanay. By February 2010 Annie's health took a downward spiral and we were catapulted into two years of mad dashes to the hospital, emergency flights and great uncertainty. We had 16 over night hospital stays by the time Annie was two. On one occasion she was taken away by the flying doctors via helicopter to Edinburgh and they wouldn't let Neil or I accompany her- that was one of the worst days of our lives. I think I sobbed the whole way down to Edinburgh on the passenger flight until the taxi brought me to her. That feeling of helplessness is something that just doesn't leave you.
When Annie was two and a half we discovered she had something wrong with her kidneys and we have since discovered she has an autoimmune disorder too.
Annie has been through two operations on her kidneys and has regular appointments at ARI. Annie has kept well since her operation and currently leads a happy, healthy life. We have had so much support from the Archie foundation, I feel I would now like to give something back on behalf of Annie and our family. The Archie Foundation is a charity that makes the difference for local sick children when they are in hospital or require long-term medical treatment. The NHS provides the most amazing care but the Foundation provides the extras – advanced training and equipment, specialist staff, child-friendly environments, and extensive support to the families of sick children. Please support me in this venture. I aim to try and raise £5000 for the Archie foundation by walking the Great Wall of China in May. As part of my fundraising I'm running the Inverness half marathon too. Your support will be very much appreciated by all of us and many more families reliant on this charity. Thank you all. mx
