Story
Morgan Stanley holds an annual Global Volunteer Month, a month dedicated to their employees around the world coming together to Give Back in line with one of their core values. Since it's inception in 2006, Morgan Stanley employees have provided nearly 24 million volunteer hours throughout Global Volunteer Month. In line with this, 12 members of the Client Onboarding and Regulatory Services have partnered with Penny Appeal and volunteered to embark on a sponsored hill walk, climbing Ben A'an on the 16th of July and raising funds to build homes for Syrian Refugees.
In northwest Syria, more than a million people are living in temporary camps, suffering through extreme weather conditions, without income or work and without enough clean water. They have to queue for hours for basic necessities such as food and toilet facilities. The tents are ill-equipped to protect them from harsh weather and floods, meaning many people die in the camps each year.
We are building them homes that they can call their own. Each £2000 home will support one family, and will include 2 rooms, plus a kitchen and a bathroom.
We have ensured that the title deed for the property will go to the refugees themselves and not to any third party - meaning it will be truly theirs for life.
Each home can be built for £2000 and this will support one family,
